Annie Robinson JP was the driving force behind the creation of Maryport Maritime Museum, which opened in the former Queen’s Head Public House in 1975. Annie was a former teacher/headmistress and magistrate of Maryport. Miss Robinson donated many items from her personal collection and encouraged other townspeople to do the same. She also wrote several books about Maritime Maryport which can be found in the museum’s library today.
